Marcos Zimmermann nació en Buenos Aires en 1950. Estudió cine en el Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía experimental. Desde 1973 fue el fotógrafo de películas argentinos y extranjeras: Quebracho, La raulito, Sra de Nadie, Camila, Les longs manteaux y muchos otros. En 1979 partió para Roma en donde trabajó en forma independiente.Tomó parte en Venecia ’79 – La Fotografía- y exhibió dos veces en Roma sus trabajos. En 1981 participó en los Rencontres Internatinales darles u fue invitado por Robert Delpire para exhibir sus obras en parís junto a H. Cartier Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Robert Frank y Joseph Koudelka. Desde 1988 trabaja en la realización de libros de fotografía. Son Patagonia, un lugar en el viento, Río de la Plata, Río de sueños y Norte Argentino, la tierra y la sangre. Río de la Plata ganó el Premio Pirámide de Oro 1955 por el mejor trabajo fotográfico del año. Ha expuesto en la Verso Fotogalería de Tokio, en el Houston Center for Photography en Estados Unidos, y en el Museo Nacional de Bellas artes, Buenos Aires.

Marcos Zimmermann was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1950. He studied cinema there at the National Institute of Cinematography’s Experimental Centre. From 1973 he was the stills photographer on Argentine and foreign films: Quebracho, La Raulito, Sra. De nadie, Camila, Les longs manteaux and many others. In 1979 he moved to rome where he worked freelance.He took part in Venezia’79 – La Fotografía – and held two shows in Rome. In 1981 he participated in the Rencontres Internationales dÁrles and was invited by Robert Delpireo exhibit his work in Paris, together with H.Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Robert Frank and Joseph Koudelka in the Delpire-Nouvelle Observateur Gallery. Since 1988 he has worked on books of photography. These includes Patagonia, a Place in the Wind, Río de la Plata, River of Dreams, and Norte Argentino, la tierra y la sangre,/Land and Kin. The second won the Premio Pirámide de Oro 1995 for the best Photographic Work of the Year.He exhibit at the Verso Photo Gallery in Tokyo, at the Houston center for Photography in the USA, and at the Colección Fotográfica del Museo of the Museo nacional de Bellas artes of Buenos Aires.
